Please watch these videos. Speeches made by MR no doubt will instil racial hatred among the communities.

MR claims the existence of a secret document signed between SF and Sampathan in order to divide the country. No intelligent human being will believe this claim unless he is racially motivated. MR’s latest invention is that the percentage of the votes received by SF will be used as evidence by LTTE proxies to campaign for a division of the country. He is using this ‘trick’ to agitate the ignorant masses. By this he aims to bring more mistrust among the already divided communities. The document which was signed by SF was prepared by CJ Sarath N Silva out lining the immediate measures that will be taken to alleviate the suffering of the people affected by the war.

SF speaks about ethnic harmony, restoring democracy and Law andorder. He speaks like a cultured politician and leader. He has major Sinhalese-UNP, JVP, Tamil-TNA and Muslim-SLM
parties supporting him. This no doubt is the steppingstone for national integration and ethnic reconciliation. Working in unity like this, is evidence that Sri Lankans are willing to live in harmony and integrate in an undivided country that has been devastated by the
war.
LTTE proxies and the section of TNA MPs who entered parliament with the help of LTTE are for boycotting the election. TNA leadership has taken a decision by sidelining the wishes of these selfish Tami nationalists. The decision to work with major political parties by the
TNA should be welcomed not condemned. Sampanthan and Dr Neelan Thiruchelvam tried for a negotiated political settlement during Kumaratunga’s time. Both were targets of the LTTE
Dr Thiruchelvam was unfortunately killed by a suicide bomber and Sampanthan was provided with security including a bullet proof vehicle. Thus it is ridiculous to say that Sampanthan wants to divide the country and working on the LTTE’s agenda with SF. Those TNA MPs’ who had aggressively campaigned for the LTTE are favouring MR indirectly by taking the position to boycott the election or by remaining silent. Tamils have lost the confidence with the government already as it is encouraging a paramilitary political culture. This is also one of the main reasons for TNA to support SF. By voting for MR, can it be assumed that the Singhalese are racist and racism is still persisting in Sri Lanka? In effect, is MR helping the LTTE proxies to use this as a weapon to campaign that Sri Lanka is still unsafe for minorities. LTTE committed suicide following its violation of the CFA, and by failing to curb its terror tactics especially after 09/11 attacks. This led to its military defeat.
In the past whenever the minority parities decided to work with the majority community in a democratic way to create an environment for healthy coexistence, the opposing party or parties always agitated the ignorant masses for short-sighted political gain. In the past this type of political propaganda lead to loss of over 100,000 valuable lives of all communities. I hope all Sri Lankans would have learned a bitter lesson by now. Politicians create ethnic disharmony and blame the international community so that they can survive in politics. This is a long standing strategy employed by selfish politicians. It’s clearly theresponsibility of the peace loving intelligent people to analyse the statements and make a decision that will not only be satisfactory for the present generation and but also for the future generations.
Using the racial trump card and fuelling racial disharmony are equivalent to an incompetent runner tackling the opponent in a race and in the end both become disqualified and loose the glory. As a victim of this man made cruel war and having worked in Sri Lanka until 2003 (with personal life threat); I have a moral obligation to share my views with people of Sri Lanka at this crucial juncture where Sri Lanka is going to poll to decide its future. I want to recall my favourite song –Lowe’ sama ekkama-----
Unity, peace and harmony should not become a mirage to Sri Lanka forever. “Human beings are intelligent entities; it is their decision and the choice that determines the prosperity or destruction of a country”.
I always stick to my principle: No more war
Good luck Sri Lanka.
